I often get asked the question whether warts are contagious, and if yes, how fast infection spreads. Well let me tell you, warts are definitely contagious. If you have a wart on your feet for example make sure you do not walk around with bare feet if other people are using the same area. Wart infections are quite effective in spreading. Skin to skin contact with someone who has a wart can cause the infection to transfer itself onto the non-wart affected individual. Putting a bandage on the wart will help somewhat. Make sure the skin surrounding the wart can breathe though (as in don't put the bandage too tight against the skin, this might cause friction and that will end up in a damaged wart which makes spreading the infection much easier for the virus). Using the same towel as someone who has used that towel to dry areas infected by a wart or warts is a bad idea as well. Towels are non-smooth surfaces so the virus has no trouble making itself comfortable in one.
People with an immune system that no longer functions optimally are more at risk of getting the wart virus, so extra care is required. Warts can disappear after a few months or even some years, but sadly a large percentage just don't want to leave. And that's where treatment methods come in.
